Veterinary Technician Certification Requirements
To become a Certified Veterinary Technician in Minnesota, candidates must graduate from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program, pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and complete the Minnesota Certification Application. There is a $60.00 Certification fee.

National Exam Information
The VTNE is a computer based test. Tests are offered three times per year; Spring, Summer, and Fall/Winter. All requirements must be submitted to the AAVSB by the deadline in order to qualify for the test.
Spring testing: Deadline to apply: February 15th. Testing period: March 15 through April 15.
Summer testing: Deadline to apply: June 15th. Testing period: July 15th through August 15th
Fall/Winter: Deadline to apply: October 15th. Testing period: November 15th through December 15th.
