To become certified in Minnesota as a CVT, candidates must graduate from an AVMA accredited veterinary technician program, pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), complete the Minnesota certification application and pay a $60 certification fee.
National Exam Information
The VTNE moved to computer based testing the summer of 2010! The testing window will be March 15 - April 15 with the deadline of February 15 for all documents and July 15 - August 15 with the deadline of June 15 for all documents and November 15 - December 15 with the deadline of October 15 for all documents.

Minnesota Certification Information
Beginning in 2010 there is no longer a MN state exam, nor will passing the state exam be required for certification in Minnesota. In addition, beginning in 2010 those wishing to be certified in Minnesota must successfully pass the National Exam and complete a certification application. The application can be downloaded (see below) and sent in to the MVMA or you can apply online. Please note: a copy of your diploma or original transcripts needs to be included with the application along with the $60.00 certification fee.
