This one hour lecture will review the common toxins associated with human pregnancies and the human neonatal stage that are poisonous to pets. This lecture will review decontamination, mechanism of action of toxicity, and review treatment. Poisonous baby toxins that will be discussed include the following: pre-natal vitamins (iron), chewable sugar-free multivitamins (xylitol), talc powder, topical medications (zinc oxide), grapes/raisins, and objects that cause foreign body obstructions (e.g., diapers, pacifiers, etc.)
